Liverpool is still looking for a new coach to replace Jurgen Klopp. Initially, The Reds targeted Xabi Alonso as the number 1 target. However, last month, the Spanish strategist confirmed that he would continue to work with Leverkusen next season.

After failing in the Xabi Alonso deal, Liverpool turned to coach Ruben Amorim of Sporting CP. In recent days, British media simultaneously reported that the defending League Cup champion had reached a personal agreement with the Portuguese captain.

However, coach Ruben Amorim crushed the rumors of agreeing to lead Liverpool: “I have not yet negotiated with Liverpool and there is no agreement yet. It’s all fake news.

I am still the coach of Sporting CP, I want to win here and I have not negotiated with any team. Stop this story. This is the last time I talk about my future.”

On social networking sites, many Liverpool fans were extremely disappointed by coach Ruben Amorim’s statements. “It turns out we hadn’t even contacted him. What a farce,” one fan was upset. “Another coach refuses. Liverpool now no longer has the same attraction as before,” another person lamented.

Ruben Amorim has led Sporting CP since March 2020. In the 2020-21 season, the 39-year-old coach helped his team win a treble of domestic titles.

Besides Ruben Amorim, Liverpool is said to also target other coaches such as Thomas Tuchel, Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann or Thomas Frank.
