Premier League postpone four fixtures amid coronavirus outbreaks

The Premier League has postponed four further matches, scheduled for this weekend, due to an increase in coronavirus cases.

Manchester United’s clash against Brighton was called off earlier on Thursday, with the following fixtures also cancelled:

Southampton v Brentford
Watford v Crystal Palace
West Ham v Norwich
Everton v Leicester

“The Board has agreed to postpone the matches after assessing individual club requests this evening,” read an official statement.

Brentford, Watford, Norwich and Leicester are the four clubs in question who have struggled with coronavirus outbreaks this week.

However, the Premier League insist applications to postpone matches will be reviewed on a “case-by-case basis”, based on existing rules and COVID-19 postponement guidance issued to all clubs.
